In this Applied Physicist, BR&T/Advanced Computing Technology role candidates will apply their knowledge of quantum physics to build a comprehensive suite of capabilities in experimental quantum computing or quantum sensing.
Successful candidates shall have a deep understanding of both theory and laboratory practices in at least one of the following areas:
- Superconducting qubits
- Semiconductor quantum dots
- Cold atomic ions
- Rydberg atoms
- Single-photon photonic systems
- Other quantum material systems
A background that includes work with more than one of these disciplines is preferred
Position Responsibilities: (Successful candidates shall develop)
- A vibrant research and development program supported by both intramural and extramural funding
- Write project proposals
- Develop future product concepts
- Assist with the integration of quantum technologies into future products and services for Boeing’s commercial and defense businesses.
Work Authorization: This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- Authored and published Research papers and projects (Academia or Professional)
- University Studies and laboratory practice in one of the following areas: Superconducting qubits, Semiconductor quantum dots, Cold atomic ions, Rydberg atoms, Single-photon photonic systems, Other quantum material systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Active US Security clearance
- Experience leading up a Research Project managing cost and schedule performance
- PhD of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
