The Opportunity

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a passion for aerospace? Join our Tool Store Team at RAAF Base Amberley as an Aerospace Worker with Boeing Defence Australia's Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services.

In this position, you will assist in maintaining and supporting the Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) 36 Squadron C-17A Globemasters, ensuring essential upkeep and services for all eight aircraft.

As part of the C-17 Australian Sustainment Services Contract, you will play an integral role in our team, working towards the common goal of supporting the management of services, integration of systems, and ensuring the engineering and maintenance needs of the fleet are met. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage maintenance, repairs, and calibration of Aircraft Ground Support Equipment and Test & Support Equipment (GSE, S&TE) as per all policies.
  • Perform 240V electrical integrity testing (Test & Tag) on equipment and maintain up-to-date registers.
  • Inspect and test torque wrenches, lifting equipment, and working at heights equipment.
  • Manage hazardous waste in compliance with policies.
  • Handle tool store consumables, including reordering and restocking.
  • Complete daily tool store tasks using via electronic tasking systems.

Checklist for Success:

  • Be physically fit and able work autonomously in a small team.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understand Quality Assurance (QA) procedures.
  • Must be an Australian citizen.
  • Meet security requirements of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITARS).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Have knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
  • Hold a C class driver's license.

Nice to have but not essential:

  • Previous experience in Aircraft maintenance.
  • Previous mechanical experience.
  • Hold a High-Risk Work License for elevated work platforms and forklift.
  • Experience in hazardous waste management.
  • Hold a medium rigid license.
  • Familiarity with Australian Defence Force systems (MILIS, WFD).
  • Possess an electrical Test & Tag ticket.

Security Clearance

You will be required to successfully undergo the vetting process for a Government security clearance (Negative Vetting One) sponsored by BDA. Therefore, you must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information and must have the ability to verify your background for whole of life i.e. birth to present time.
