Job Description

The Boeing company is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer - Space Vehicle (SV) Payload Engineer (Level 3) in Aurora, CO.  A certified Subsystem Payload Engineer is a member of an operational team of approximately 30 teammates in the Operations Engineering Group.


The SV Payload Engineer will be required to carry a rotational 24/7 on-call pager within the TA subsystem team and respond to critical system faults after hours and on weekends and holidays as required. 


An active/current Top Secret/SCI clearance with counter-intelligence polygraph is required for this position.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Daily evaluation of trending data of multiple subsystems to validate nominal system performance, identifying any system degradation and implementing appropriate responses to prevent adverse system impacts.
  • Provide support to the program as a pivotal team member of a multifaceted group engaged in the planning and execution of complex engineering activities (planned and unplanned), calibrations, and complex operational changes on a high value operational system in a dynamic, real-time, and fast paced environment.
  • Preventative maintenance and emergency response to critical system faults will often require manipulation and modification of software code.
  • Create appropriate documentation and entries in history logs, discrepancy logs, and process procedures on items specific to any/all subsystem updates and activities.
  • Receive extensive system-level and specific subsystem-level training and will extend that training to future candidates who enter the program.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) after completion of training and aid in the maintenance and development of operational procedures, creation, review, and update of training materials, development of trending reports, and create database inputs to support system operations.
  • Support technical forums to include customer briefs, working groups, and cross-program exchanges as required.
  • Will plan and support software product development, maintenance, and program unique validation and testing requirements utilizing specific hardware and software processes and procedures.

Qualifications

This position requires an active/current Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

 

Basic (Required) Qualifications

  • Current Top Secret/SCI clearance with counter-intelligence polygraph is required for this position.
Preferred (Desired) Qualifications
  • Matlab, C++ based programming.
  • UNIX/LINUX environment experience.
  • Experience with the use of the Microsoft tool suite.
Typical Education/Experience

Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
