The Application Service Specialist is the customer's first point of contact for providing support of complex Airline Crew Management system installations. You will be responsible for assisting the management and maintenance of the customer's product installation, including support, problem solving and upgrading to new releases. You ensure that Boeing provides services and support in accordance with service level agreements. An important part of this role is to build a relationship with the customer and manage expectations. In addition you are required to work closely with other departments globally to raise awareness of technical and operational issues with the client.

Essential Functions:

• Become an authority on several Airline Crew Management production system installations
• Provide application management and advanced technical support to Airline Crew Management products, in relation to the Service Level Agreement(s)
• Requirements gathering, design and software development of change requests
• Proactive problem solving and daily management of the production installation
• Work internally with different teams to ensure issues are resolved with quality and within expected timeframe
• Advise client on the use of the product and propose improvements to ensure that customer extracts maximum business value of the Airline Crew Management installation
• Prepare, produce and present customer reports
• Occasionally conduct on-site meetings with customer and lead system health check

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Highly responsible, able to take ownership of issues
• Strong technical & analytical aptitude
• Self-Starter
• Particular interest in technical problem solving and/or customer relations/support
• Good understanding of RHEL and programming skills in a range of languages (Python and Java preferred)
• Distributed version control systems such as mercurial, git
• Databases (Oracle preferred)
• Other: Univa Grid Engine, Kerberos, JBoss
• Customer relationship experience with Asia customers preferred
• Problem Solver
• Able to work independently and within a team (locally and remotely/virtual)
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Airline Crew Planning/Management knowledge is advantageous

- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Overall 7+ years of working experience in IT, with 2-5 years in a software development role.
- Candidates with Aviation related application development background will be given preference.
