Job Description

We are launching a new strategic initiative called the Digital Transformation Environment (DTE). DTE is a digital accelerator focused on designing and building in-house solutions and differentiating capabilities to help Boeing compete in our second century. It is a key initiative under 2nd Century Enterprise Systems (2CES). Our focus is on innovative solutions implementing cutting-edge agile software development methodologies and user-centric design.

We are looking for a passionate Product Manager/Functional Analyst who will know how to define, de-risk and execute against a product vision. You will work to create, own, and continuously improve strategic and tactical plans for the your product, while helping to define the way other product managers will conduct day to day business in their discipline. You must also be able to engage our internal customer’s management with discussions about methodologies, culture, and best practices.

The role demands strong product instincts, excellent communication skills, technical fluency, empathy, humility, an understanding of the product vs. project mindset, and an appreciation for and ability to teach agile, lean startup, and user-centered design values, principles and practices. A successful candidate must be willing to contribute to the development of the methodology and product management discipline.

This position is for a Senior level position in the Data Platform team in the Analytics & Information Management (AIMS) organization. Specifically, the incumbent will perform systems analysis on the target requirements, work with team members to evaluate the best solution and to estimate level of effort as well as assist in planning and documenting technical plans to ensure swift implementation. The incumbent will write functional specifications and test documentation for the Product, and in addition, the incumbent will plan and project manage schedules for development and implementation.

In this role you will:

• Work on a dynamic team supporting core Boeing products in agile increments

• Engage directly with the business and the development team on a daily basis

• Help the business define their product strategy and vision whilst breaking it down into user stories for the development team

• Create, own, and continuously improve strategic and tactical plans for your product(s)

• Actively manage user stories and acceptance criteria while enabling the team and blocking from distraction

• Develop, create and own test plans for capabilities developed

Skills needed for success in this role:

• Ability to analyze processes, systems and data to identify function requirements for application or system design
• Skill at defining and prioritizing product features
• Ability to bridge business goals, user needs and feasibility when designing and shipping product
• Strong leadership and communications skills and the ability to teach others
• Ability to work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision making

• Ability to lead from within a product team
• Background in design or software development a plus

Basic/Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Microsoft Office Productivity suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MS Project)
  •  SQL (Structured Query Language)  
  •  More than 3 years experience analyzing processes, applications, systems and data to identify functional requirements for application or system design

  • Experience as a project manager

Additional Desired Skills:


  •  PL/SQL (Procedural Language/Structured Query Language)
  • Knowledge of current Boeing Production System and Processes will be a benefit
  •  Knowledge or willingness to learn Big Data Technologies (Teradata, Hadoop)
    • Data Analytics, Machine Learning
  •  Experience in Agile, Kanban, Lean, automated testing and/or continuous integration work
  • Java, XML, HTML5, Korn/Borne Shell, Python 
  • Current PMP Certification
