Job Description

The Boeing Company is seeking a User Experience/Product Designer to lead UI/UX product design efforts, from user research through iterative development and delivery to the end user for the IT Analytics & Information Management Services (AIMS) organization. The primary focus of this role will be to design and build innovative solutions, implementing cutting-edge agile software development methodologies and user-centric design techniques. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with project teams to perform user-centered design activities that actively involve users throughout all phases of a project to ensure product usability.
  • Guiding product decisions by conducting user research such as interviews and facilitating iterative feedback loops. Defining user requirements, user flows, and usability goals.
  • Creating user interaction design alternatives, and conveying designs by building prototypes and style guides.
  • Conducting iterative usability tests to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the designs.
  • Diagnosing and prioritizing usability issues and refining designs or recommends changes.
  • Contributing to the development of the UX design discipline through development of user-centered design best practices.
  • Providing mentoring to UX design employees to grow the discipline of user centered design and agile software development methodology within Boeing IT.

Qualifications

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Education & Experience:

Technical bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

 

Basic Skills

  • Experience in UX design with an emphasis on whole experience solutions and empathy for the end user 
  • 1+ years experience working in Lean/Agile software development and rapid iterative design and delivery of products 
  • Excellent collaboration skills teaming with clients, product managers, developers, and fellow designers 
  • Experience with responsive and mobile design

 

 

Preferred Skills:

  • 1+ years experience developing visual design, branding and data visualizations to produce modern, compelling products
  • Communicating design rationale to stakeholders and continuously advocate for the end user
  • Experience determining the user-centered design strategy and lead the IT business customers through research, iterative design and development, and the delivery process
