The Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center (BIETC) is looking for highly-motivated Avionics Senior Manager, leading embedded software development teams in India.  Responsibilities include:

 

Job Description:

 

Lead teams of software engineers.  Teams will be performing engineering and technical activities in the area of software engineering that develop, test, maintain and improve software

  • Work collaboratively with the teams from across the globe in an integrated design environment to help deliver engineering statement of work. Develop and lead managers, interact with the program leaders from across the globe.
  • Develops project or operational plans aligned with business objectives. Implements plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved. Assigns authority and responsibilities to managers to execute the plan. Reviews plans' execution, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues. Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan
  • Forecasts resource needs and makes hiring decisions. Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities. Ensures teams are working effectively. Provides on-going developmental feedback. Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to team regarding approved processes, tools, technology and skills for own projects. Ensures workgroup products or processes meet customer, company, quality, industry and regulatory requirements. Provides approval of workgroup technical approaches, products and processes.
  • To partner and engage with internal and external stakeholders, maintain relationships/partnerships with internal customers, peers and partners to develop strategies, goals and objectives that are consistent with the organization’s strategy. The position will be pivotal in creating and maintaining relationships with the US-based stakeholders and working closely with those stakeholders in planning and forecasting activities of the team as well as reporting requirements from stakeholders.
  • Must foster an innovative work environment leading to identification of opportunities for improvements in product, process, quality, and productivity.
  • This position will work closely with the Chief of Staff and provide periodic status updates to engineering leadership in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.
  • This position will be located in Bangalore, India, and will be reporting directly to the Boeing Defense and Avionics India Chief Engineer in Bangalore, India
  • This position will require some travel within India and internationally.
  • Past experience and demonstrated success in managing DO-178 B/C compliant embedded software teams working in one or more avionics related technology areas. 
  • Past experience with standards such as DO-160, DO-254 and Mil-Std-810 would be a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of aerospace engineering standards for design, testing & certification.
  • Has led teams working on projects using following technologies, tools and languages: Java, HTML5 Web Applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures, GUI development, metadata extraction and analysis, protocol processing, desktop application frameworks, Enterprise middleware, Perl, Python, C++, C#, AJAX, relational or other databases, MYSQL, Unix, Linux, Windows, XML technologies, JavaScript, HTML5, shell scripts, Spring, MATLAB and configuration management tools.- Experience in the electronics product development lifecycle for sub-systems, LRUs comprising of requirements engineering, architecture & detailed design and verification & validation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technologies, policies and procedures related to engineering of defense related products. Past experience and demonstrated ability to manage aerospace product design & development and certification testing, laboratory and flight test facilities and relevant work-statements.
  • Skilled in leading/planning to meet schedules and/or resolve execution issues.
  • Technical leadership and Project Management skills to ensure flawless execution of engineering statements of work in India.
  • Teamwork is important in this position; individual must have strong team building skills. Must have ability to accomplish results through effective collaboration working with all stakeholders including colleagues in other parts of Boeing, and suppliers. Ability to work well on virtual teams across multiple time-zones and cultures.
  • Communication – strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals, Statements of Work, and connect technology to business considerations. Candidate must be fluent in English, and familiar with MS Office tools.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in medium to large aerospace companies with at least last 7 years as a people manager. Candidates with experience in Avionics domain only

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required and Master’s degree is preferred. A post graduate degree in management would be a plus but not required
