Job Description:

Test & Evaluation engineers at Boeing make sure that products at the world’s largest aerospace company continue to meet the highest standards. From quality and reliability, to safety and performance, their expertise is vital to the concept, design and certifications of a wide variety of commercial and military systems. Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) -India based in Bangalore, India is an integral part of BT&E and is engaged in supporting lab and flight test for various programs.

Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) has an immediate opening for a Senior Manager of Test & Evaluation who will be responsible for developing and managing design, build and test operations as well as support supplier base in India to perform test work-statement. The selected individual would implement Boeing’s International Strategy as it relates to BT&E. The test work-statement will include engineering, manufacturing and performing tests and also developing in-country capability to perform product testing of Boeing Commercial and Defense products.

The selected individual will act as India leader for the BT&E organization. This individual will be responsible for developing capabilities team aligned to BT&E’s Global Strategy. As Local Execution Leader (LEL) at India, the selected candidate will be accountable to the value stream leaders for programs being executed in India and also to the enterprise capability leaders for following standard processes and practices. He/She will partner with various Boeing stakeholder organizations (such as Engineering & Technology, Boeing Defense Space & Security, Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Supplier Management) to develop a capability base to accomplish Boeing test activities in India. .

  • This position will represent Boeing in interactions with senior leaders from Indian Industry, academia, Indian Government organizations, and Boeing’s partners in India.  This position will also identify sources in India capable of meeting Boeing’s test and test technology needs, develop engagement options, and implement the selected options to achieve the desired technical capabilities. The selected candidate would also work to identify India opportunities to utilize the Test & Evaluation assets.
  • The selected individual will manage a team of engineers and business professionals located in India and/or personnel who are on assignment in India to integrate and manage test work-statement being performed in India. The selected individual will also support identification and development of innovative test technologies.
  • This position will engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop integrated departmental strategies, goals and objectives, to be consistent with the enterprise India Engineering and Technology strategy. This position develops and maintains relationships / partnerships with customers, suppliers, peers, partners and direct reports to develop collaborative plans and execute on projects.
  • This position will acquire resources for in-country activities, provide technical oversight of employees and suppliers, and lead process improvements to meet the requirements of internal stakeholders.  This position also motivates, develops and manages employees and first-level managers to achieve excellent technical and business outcomes.
  • This position will provide project management guidance to and administer multiple projects, develop and administer budgets, schedules and performance standards.
  • This position provides periodic updates to Boeing executive management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.  This position will also be responsible for coordinating and communicating regularly with experts in Boeing organizations around the world.
  • This position will support initiatives of Boeing India Engineering and Technology organization related to employee development, customer engagement, strategic relations, Government interactions, etc.
  • This position will require frequent travel within India and internationally.
  • This position will be located at Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center, Bangalore, India and will be reporting to Director of BT&E Global Strategy and functionally to the leader of BIETC.
 
Skills Required:
  • Knowledge and deep understanding of state-of-the-art technologies, policies and procedures related to Test and Evaluation and Test Technology and related areas.  Knowledge of skills, abilities and tools required by employees to accomplish organizational responsibilities.
  • Past experience and demonstrated ability to manage aerospace product development and certification testing, laboratory and flight test facilities and relevant work-statement. Knowledge of Boeing test environment and practices. Skilled in advising and mentoring subordinate managers or staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.
  • Technical and Project Management skills to lead a diverse team consisting of Boeing personnel and partners.
  • Exceptional business judgment and strong strategic counseling skills.  Must be results-driven and have a strong bottom-line orientation. 
  • Teamwork is important in this position; individual must have strong teambuilding skills.  Must have ability to accomplish results through subordinate managers or non-management employees, colleagues in other parts of Boeing, and partners, even when they are not direct reports.  Ability to work well on virtual teams across multiple time-zones.
  • Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with partners from within Boeing and outside, across different cultures and time-zones.
  • Strategic thinking and execution – must be able to develop comprehensive India intelligence / knowledge, and communicate with Boeing Engineering and Technology organizations, identify capacity/capability to perform current and projected engineering work statement and research, conduct on-site evaluations and assessments as to the strengths to perform these activities.
  • Communication – strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals, Statements of Work, and connect technology to business considerations (e.g., ROI).  Candidate must be fluent in English, and familiar with MS Office tools. 
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment. 
  • Ability to mentor and teach subordinates and partners to accomplish project and departmental goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical, Software / Electronics / Electrical or equivalent discipline) with 15 or more years’ experience preferably in an aerospace company. A Master’s Degree in Business Administration will be a plus.
