Boeing is the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners, defense, space and security systems, and service provider of aftermarket support. The successful candidate will part of a transformative cloud simulation team.

The role

Boeing Research and Technology is seeking an experienced cloud engineer to develop back-end services in an enterprise cloud environment, such as Microsoft Azure. The candidate will need to write code to assist the development of a cloud based simulation project. You will be responsible for developing new cloud services, as well as connecting the cloud simulation VM to existing services and client facing servers. 

Responsibilities will include

• Developing, storing, querying software communications between cloud hosted microservices, as well as server and client endpoints.
• Supporting software design and testing processes using Agile methodologies
• Liaising and collaborating with internal and external customer technical representatives

Skills and experience

Be a passionate, collaborative and capable software engineer, familiar with modern web communication software development environments, processes (designing, source control - Git, Continuous Integration, automated testing) and protocols (ipv6, SSL)

Have some experience in and a willingness to learn new web/cloud/networking based technologies:Compressing/reducing network traffic

• Experience in a persistent network system - eg. web sockets, netcode.io, webRTC, networking used in games
• Web Security
• Message backbone/handler on server side - examples: Apache Kafka / Azure Event Hubs
• Azure (or other cloud experience)
• JavaScript ES6 (TypeScript, Node.js)

Desirable skills and experience:

• Be able to setup\understand Azure VPN Gateway, private and public subnets
• Generating and scaling multiple simulations in containers using Docker, Kubernetes, or Virtual Machine creation.
• Client /server interactions – eg. Building API's (REST), querying databases, GraphQL
• C++ experience
• Develop web pages using a frontend technology eg. HTML/CSS, React, Angular or WebGL
• Ability to demonstrate a willingness to learn will be very highly regarded
• A Bachelor's degree (desired), or above, in software engineering, information technology, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline. Candidates with extensive experience will also be considered.
