The company is now recruiting for the position of a Principal Technical Officer within the Tactical Data Links (TDL) Services team to support the Vigilare, Wedgetail and Phantom Works programs as well as new projects, all based in Brisbane.

In this role, you will:

  • Enable the program by utilising software test tools and network infrastructure, including NG software TIGER, Cisco networking tools, Unix based operating systems and Boeing Defence Australia developed simulators to conduct testing of the TDL functionality in the lab. We expect you to use these tools, perform analysis on TDL systems, raise defects and report results to the various programs within BDA and the ADF,
  • Learn and expand upon your technical skills - including the use of BDA automated TDL test tools, technical workings of complex ADF C2 TDL systems. Additionally, you will actively participate in the complex TDL test program lifecycle, from requirements definition, through design, verification, validation and support phases of a product,
  • Earn the trust of others and our customer by conducting progress, status and lessons learnt sessions, conducting activities in accordance with project plans, and established processes, practices and standards, with a strong focus on continual improvement, and
  • Lead through the mentoring, coaching and teaching staff members within the team, while setting a strong example for others to follow. It is expected to you would demonstrate and apply sound security principles in conformance with Australian Defence standards.

To be successful you will have:

  • Knowledge of tactical data links technologies, especially Link 16 and/or Link 11
  • Extensive domain expertise or familiarity in the integration and test of command and control systems
  • Experience in the use of software test tools and network infrastructure
  • Data and voice communications systems experience
  • Extensive experience in the specification, and conformance to standards testing of TDL systems
  • Ability to write and execute detailed test procedures in accordance with a Test Plan
  • Ability to evaluate and analyse test data in accordance with an Evaluation Plan
  • Are self-sufficient, self-driven and self-aware of your performance and ability,
  • Encourage a robust “drive to action” approach with the ability to be resilient and flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Can obtain and maintain or currently hold an NV-1 clearance
