About the role:

The Software Engineer will work to the Senior Software / Electronics Engineer. The core focus will be on development of applications and GUIs which will link operators of Unmanned Aerial Systems with payloads' embedded software for control and health/status monitoring. The Software Engineer will also assist with the development of payload embedded software, data communications, software testing and use of a number of internally and externally developed post-processing applications..

Accountabilities:

  • Development and modification of payload GUIs, including interfacing the GUI to the payloads' embedded software at the software and communication layer (e.g. via serial and IP).
  • Software testing, including HIL and developing SIL capabilities.
  • Intermediate experience in developing software solution on both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Input into design reviews.
  • Configuration management of the developed software and testing outcomes.
  • Post-processing raw data through both internally developed and COTS post-processing applications.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A passion for Unmanned Systems.
  • Engineering Degree in a mechatronics, electrical/electronics, avionics, software, or related discipline.
  • High level of experience developing in C / C++ (Qt) and C# (.NET) and a moderate level of experience with python.
  • Experience in embedded software and GUI development.
  • Experience working in a team environment using Source Control (Git), configuration and workflow management systems (e.g. such as the Atlassian tools).
  • Sound systematic and logical problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and the ability to work in a team environment, including professional guidance and/or oversight of junior team members.
  • Personal alignment with Insitu Pacific's values.

Also desirable:

  • Experience developing software development tools, including simulation software.
  • Experience with embedded systems (Linux on ARM, STM32 Bare-metal C/C++).
  • Experience configuring COTS systems such as IP networks, encoders, flight controllers, etc..
  • Experience in Test Driven Design Principles and Software validation and Verification Techniques.
  • Domain Knowledge in GIS, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry and Imaging Applications.
  • Experience dealing with customers in the oil/gas/mining sector.
  • Experience with survey software products, particularly .LAS file generation or more broadly with photogrammetry, lidar or other related survey payloads.
