Boeing PhantomWorks is seeking a candidate for a software engineer on one of the most exciting projects in Australia in Autonomous Systems: Advanced Autonomy. Your responsibilities will be:

  • Perform software development and integration activities related to autonomous system on-board processing.
  • Developing unit and functional tests and conducting integration testing
  • Optimising and integrating software into small form factor computing capabilities.

 You will work in support of a Project Manager, a Software Technical Lead, a Hardware Technical Lead / Lead Systems Engineer, and a System Architect to implement autonomous behaviours, artificial intelligence and machine learning  capabilities for autonomous system development for The Boeing Company. In addition to being able to work cooperatively within a team, we require an experienced software engineer with a minimum of 3 years of industry and/or research experience who possesses the following attributes:

  • Experience in implementing and controlling different forms of wireless communications networks for both commercial and/or defense applications, such as: Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G telecommunication, Link 16, satellite communications (e.g. Iridium, Inmarsat) is required.
  • Knowledge of the pros and cons of different link connections and ability to recommend one or more link types based on mission data needs and platform characteristics is required.
  • Knowledge of managing multiple link connections simultaneously is required.
  • Knowledge of methodologies for secure communications and data encryption types is required.
  • Experience in software requirements analysis, functional analysis, software design & development, and software integration & test is required.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change, support the development of technical plans, and decompose high level guidance into value-added prototyping requirements and capabilities is required.
  • Ability to communicate complex software concepts in both written and verbal formats to management as well as the technical team is required.
  • Knowledge of hardware components associated with the implementation of different communications networks is highly desirable (i.e. modems, antennas, etc.)
  • Strong software development skills in C++ and other languages including C, C#, Python are highly desirable.
  • Significant experience using both Linux and Windows operating systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience in participating in software development cycles using agile methods and processes is highly desired.
  • Ability to implement and utilize systems and processes for ensuring quality and configuration management for all prototypes and products is highly desirable.
  • Experience with embedded systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with:
    • the latest trends and approaches for implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and autonomous behaviours
    • machine learning/deep learning techniques
    • sensing systems (visual, infrared, laser, etc.) and processing technues, is highly desirable.
    • Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering and/or Computer Science.
    • Experience with OpenCL 2.0 and CUDA processing frameworks is good to have
    • Parallel and GPGPU  processing experience is good to have
