Boeing Phantom Works is seeking a candidate with Software Engineering skills to lead the Battle Management Services Development project as part of the mission systems internal research and development program. This role will lead a team performing software engineering and systems integration activities to deliver innovative battle management services in support of current and future defence Command and Control systems including Wedgetail, Poseidon and Vigilare.

We require an experienced Software Engineering Leader who possesses the following attributes:

  • Ability to attract, develop and inspire software engineering talent, provide technical leadership of suppliers and lead process improvements.
  • Capability to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and team members.
  • Knowledge of mission system development software technologies, products and processes - including strong Object Oriented and open systems development skills
  • Software development planning, estimation and scheduling practices, including software requirements analysis and specification, functional analysis, development, integration and test.
  • Strong experience in software development for commercial and/or Defence software applications.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change, formulate technical plans and decompose high level guidance into value add prototyping requirements and capabilities.
  • Skills or domain knowledge in mission systems, operator functions, artificial intelligence, machine learning, algorithm development and data processing.
  • Oversee, monitor and build-in systems and processes for ensuring quality and configuration management are integrated into all prototypes and products, and documentation is of a relevant standard for prototype capability.
  • Developing, documenting and reviewing the software and user interface designs and working effectively with third party vendors to integrate with existing functionality.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and/or Computer Science.
