The Technical Writer/Data Integration Analyst is a member of the Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) Command, Control and Communications Systems (C3S) division at BDA offices in Brisbane, Queensland.

BDA are responsible for providing System Support Services to the Commonwealth of Australia for Vigilare, Defence High Frequency Communication Systems, Tactical Data Links and various other Defence systems. System Support Services may also be required to be provided to other C3S projects and/or activities, when requested.

The Technical Writer/ Data Integration Analyst develops, produces, delivers, and sustains technical data as needed to support products and services provided to BDA customers. Data may include paper, electronic, and interactive forms of media used during product operation and maintenance (e.g., operational information and checklists, maintenance information, illustrated parts breakdowns, wiring diagrams and flow schematics, field modification instructions, service bulletins, catalogues, configuration specifications, etc.)


Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct the development and/or update of Technical Publications/Manuals in accordance with specific contract requirements and relevant project plans
  • Develop and/or update publications from commercial data, system design information, logistics data, other data sources and subject research
  • Researching and evaluating engineering and technical source data and specifications
  • Ensure that the technical integrity of the source data is maintained during any conversion activities
  • Conduct of Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) activities in Omega PS (Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) analysis, Level of Repair Analysis (LORA))


To be successful you will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Telecommunications or Network maintenance or operational support environment or a formal qualification in technical authoring or logistics and support systems analysis
  • Aptitude or experience in interpreting technical engineering information (drawings and manuals)
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-team environment
  • Fully competent with Microsoft Windows and Office environments
  • Demonstrated experience in an SGML/XML authoring environment
  • Experience in the use of R4i or Contenta Common Source Database (CSDB)
  • Experience in the development and production of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)
  • Experience in producing Technical Documentation to DEF(AUST) 5629A & B, AAP 5030.001, DI(AF) 5030.002, MIL-STD 1808D, ATA-100, or ATA-iSpec 2200 standards
  • Demonstrated understanding of LSAR database tool suites
