The Training Services, Training Development Team are looking to hire experienced Editors to join us in providing specialist courseware design and development services in support of our Defence portfolio of Boeing platforms and services.
Virtual/remote working is available but periodic attendance at either a Boeing or customer site may be required from time to time.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Training Design and Development Manager our Courseware Editors are responsible for:
Contributing to the analysis and evaluation of customer technical training editorial needs to determine appropriate editorial methodologies and establishing the editorial aspects of the training design and development projects.
The provision of editorial training services that meet the highest technical and quality standards, regulatory requirements and company policies and processes embracing first time quality as a way of life.
Efficiently editing custom technical courseware to ensure it adheres to the style guide and is free from spelling and grammatical errors by downloading courseware from the content management system to do editorial reviews and recording comments for correction.
Supporting the editorial lead in maintaining and updating the Courseware Writing Style Guide.
Contributing to the continual improvement of the editorial quality of courseware through coaching, training and one-to-one support of the training development team as appropriate and communicating clearly to convey information to the rest of the team about editorial style and quality.
Identifying and correcting conditions and behaviours that affect employee, public and customer safety; upholding safety standards; demonstrating proactive safety culture leadership.
Gathering data to support with proposals and assisting with the preparation and presentation of reports regarding the development, implementation and evaluation of training projects and curricula.
Discovering new opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking to determine new editorial strategies, methods, technologies and tools related to instructional systems design, development and delivery for internal and external customers.

The Person
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience as an editorial professional. Previous experience of editing technical content is desirable including:
Exceptional editorial skills, including meticulous attention to detail for spotting grammatical errors and deviations from the internal style guide.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent time management skills to be able to edit content accurately and on time.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including remotely.
Minimum of three years’ experience in an editorial role, ideally working with technical content.
A degree in English or related field, and/or equivalent professional editorial qualifications.
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).
Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Word templates, and experience using a content management system.
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation.
