Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,400 people in the UK. We are responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK defence customers including new capabilities like the E-7 AEW&C and the P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Autonomous Systems, C4ISR Services, Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services and are very much in a growth phase.

Boeing Defence UK is currently looking for a strong generalist skilled Product Support/ Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Engineer to support New Business proposal development and our growth strategy.
Boeing Defence UK Engineering operates a matrix construct, with engineering departments delivering technical skills, expertise and products into our programmes. You will be homed in Support Engineering which develops and delivers our product supportability infrastructure across multiple programmes using many ILS technical capabilities pillars, including:
Integrated Logistic Support Engineering (General)
Logistic Support Analysis
Reliability Centred Maintenance Analysis
Engineering Data Exploitation
Reliability and Maintainability
As the Product Support Engineer/ILS New Business Lead, you will call upon your robust mix of Product Support knowledge and experience to lead and develop costed support solutions for new business opportunities. You will report to a BDUK Product Support/ILS Manager whilst being technically supported by the Product Support/ILS Technical Leads and our other capability specialists within the department.
In your role you shall:
Consult with the business capture teams to lead and create costed ILS proposals that support product and service insertions in the UK
Generate, review and assess ILS documentation appropriate to the proposal and the development phase it is in
Work within the function to generate costs basis of estimate (BOEs) for the Support solution elements scoped as part of the bid
Prepare bid gate packs & check gate artefacts for readiness. Brief and peer review with the ILS Manager and Technical Leads to achieve their buy in
Support contingency planning and requirements to progress through the various stages of proposals and development ideally transitioning the service at contract award
Prepare material for briefings, meetings and formal working groups (internal and external)
Attendance as required at internal, supplier and customer meetings
Liaise with other Engineering and wider functional Departments (e.g. Systems Engineering, Technical Publications, Supply Chain Management, Training, Programme Management, Security and more) to ensure coherent alignment with wider BDUK developments and progress
Liaise with the BDUK Research Development & Strategy personnel to ensure Supportability is considered at the outset, involving yourself from or before Gate 1 of the bid winning process
Co-ordinate support solution deliverables (CDRLs), ensuring timely inputs are received, reviewed and the final output is ready for approval and acceptance processes
Highlight any risks, issues or opportunities at the earliest possible point and where required support mitigation and development plans for addressing highlighted concerns.
Be expected to act as an ILS Champion; briefing new business areas on ILS and its benefits, identifying, communicating and influencing future business opportunities
Work as directed by the BDUK ILS Strategy Lead Engineer and the BDUK Support Engineering Manager.

This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
The preferred candidate will have most of the following, with some considered essential:
Essential to be able to obtain UK SC security clearance
Essential to have experience of Product Support/ILS in the military (or strongly comparable civil) support environment
A strong understanding of how to develop a functioning support solution, from its early stages through to transition and execution, including support maturity levels and support cases
A thorough understanding of Support Engineering in the Military environment
Application of Support Solution Tailoring and understanding of the Product Support/ILS elements
An understanding of the derivation and creation of support product documentation
Ability to work with the cross functional business stakeholders to identify optimisation opportunities and ways in which suppliers can enhance our offering to our customers
Ability to liaise with the OEM platform side of Boeing worldwide, to integrate the UK solution
Ability to specify required usage data to later assess in-service reliability, and develop other Product Support/ILS solution elements that will deliver best whole life cost for our customers
Previous experience on or working with bid winning teams
Understanding of the principals of estimating
An understanding of the principles of Risk & Opportunity Management
Proven ability to drive first time quality
Ideally you will be educated to degree level in a relevant Engineering subject, and or received some formal training in Support Engineering principles
Experience of ITIL is highly desirable
Experience of working with International support standards, such as Def Stan 00-600, ASD/AIA Suite of S Series ILS Specifications is highly desirable.
