We are looking for a Digital Services Test Manager to lead, deliver and enhance the software test capability into multiple Boeing Defence UK programmes where you’ll be challenged with modernising and transforming applications and services for our customer programmes in the UK.
You’ll be reporting to the Senior Digital Services Manager, working within the Digital Services and Analytics organisation to lead software test activity across multiple Boeing Defence UK programmes.
Responsibilities
This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious Programme Test Manager to drive improvements in the team, by delivering projects on time, cost and quality whilst adhering to SLA’s.
- Following defined Boeing processes and liaising with both internal and external customers, alongside technical experts to develop a robust test strategy across the organisation and implement it through daily team management.
- Responsibilities include the line management of circa 20+ individuals, including team leads, test analysts and additional contractor resources, to work collaboratively within an integrated customer and supplier team to jointly deliver an end-to-end test service, across corrective, adaptive and transformational change, ensuring that appropriate governance is applied across all programmes.
- You’ll possesses a proven track of establishing and delivering on strategy promises and developing and managing high performing teams. You will be expected to maintain the support test capability and drive a culture of automation and agile working practices.
- You will be proactive, highly flexible and someone that thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, ensuring that resources are managed to meet challenging business goals and objectives, while remaining sensitive to employee needs, team dynamics and internal stakeholders.
- It is essential that you are comfortable and confident representing the department and Boeing to clients and partner organisations, as well as influencing internal colleagues at all levels.
- Your responsibilities will require some travel within the UK and occasionally may require overseas travel.
Key Activities:
- Working as part of the leadership team supporting the execution of overall functional strategy.
- Overall management of the test team and its budget responsibilities
- Managing a diverse test team
- Driving automation and performance test practices within the test team
- Managing SLA’s, OLA’s and KPI’s.
- Maintaining the highest level of customer support for the customer base through proactive management and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage and coach support staff, to help maximise their potential, and establish Personal Development Plans and Skills Plans for the team.
- Provide a point of escalation of staff, customers and internal teams with the area of accountability.
- Establish close working relationships with the other departments within Digital Services and Analytics team and develop proactive business partnerships with service recipients (including conducting regular Service Reviews).
- Provide leadership to the support team by demonstrating good technical knowledge and management capabilities, and by maintaining a positive attitude at all times.
- Communication with stakeholders regarding service provision and outages.
Education and Experience:
- Relevant and suitable qualification in a related field i.e. ISTQB qualified.
- Previous background leading a test department or large test programmes.
- Experience developing AGILE teams working towards a dev-ops target model.
- Police Vetting and SC clearance or ability and willingness to obtain relevant clearance.
- Excellent team management skills of staff and an ability to drive quality improvements within the Service Catalogue.
Desirable
- Relevant Defence and/or Engineering sector experience.
- Supporting Classified environments to JSP/Home Office Standards.
- Experience of working within a large multinational organization within a matrix management structure.
