Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) Ltd seeks a Security Operations Manager, with recent practical exposure to UK Government/Defence security policy and procedures, to lead a multi-disciplinary security team in the UK. Forming part of Boeing’s International Security Activity, the BDUK Security team provides the full suite of Government and Corporate security and risk management support and advice to BDUK programmes and functions, and in support of its business partners and various customers.
As well as leading the Programme Security Team, the successful candidate will assume the role of senior security advisor to multiple aircraft support programmes and provide security support and resilience advice to all new Defence/Government business. The position will lead the security support to projects and will report directly to the BDUK Security Leader. A consistent record of collaboration and knowledge in the information security/ cyber domain is expected, as is an innovative and business-enabling approach to the delivery of security. The role will be Bristol based with a requirement for regular attendance in Bristol with potential for partial remote working.
Responsibilities and Reporting:
Reporting directly to the BDUK Security Leader, the appointment will interact closely with colleagues from International Security and the Enterprise in ensuring Boeing security standards are applied consistently and for providing international surge support in crisis scenarios. Specific responsibilities include:
Providing leadership, guidance and advice to a team of senior security professionals.
Developing a close working relationship with Business Units and Programme Managers to ensure goals and objectives are understood and meet.
Responding to and taking early action for emergency situations and reports of loss/compromise.
Supporting an annual programme of compliance and assurance activities.
Identifying, implementing and monitoring security controls for the appropriate protection of classified and/or proprietary/ sensitive assets.
Implementing UK Government industrial security and contract security procedures, and ensuring related legal and regulatory compliance.
Supporting an integrated security management system that scales to the business.
Leading all aspects of security risks, developing remediation plans and ensuring escalation where required.
Designing and delivering a programme of security awareness, education and training.
Supporting the security planning and event support of activities involving significant BDUK presence (including air shows, conferences and exhibitions).
Coordinating the production of security artefacts in support of projects and new business pursuits.
Being responsible for the security requirements for any assigned facilities in conjunction with the Facilities team and on-site contracted services.
Representing Boeing at company, government and industry focus and security working groups to shape security policy and procedure.
Identifying and provisioning specialist 3rd party security supplier support as required.
Collaborating closely with national law enforcement and security agencies
The successful candidate will likely have a multi-disciplinary security/ law enforcement/ intelligence/ corporate security background, at a management level, and a demonstrated ability to operate at high tempo with minimum supervision across diverse areas of professional security competence. A degree/post graduate level qualification is preferable but not essential. Applicants with recent UK Defence Security experience, particularly cyber/ information security, and/or related qualifications, will be viewed favourably
In addition, the individual will have:
Experience in applying risk-managed security solutions in a large Corporate or Government organization and preferably a good understanding of UK Government industrial security requirements.
A thorough working knowledge of the HMG GovS007 and/or JSP 440 Defence Manual of Security. An understanding of the security aspects of trade/export controls would be desirable.
Programme/project management experience/qualifications.
Experience of Security Audit/Compliance programmes in accordance with ISO or other recognisable standards.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and be conversant with common Microsoft Office productivity applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc); an ability to brief and influence at senior management/executive level is a key requirement.
The candidate will need to satisfy UK Government requirements to obtain a DV Security Clearance so must fulfil a 10 years UK residency qualification. This is not an Ex Pat position and will be contracted under ILHE arrangements.
The post will be located in Bristol with some travel within UK (up to 30% distraction) and occasional deployment internationally in support of emergency contingencies and attendance at ISA Leaders meetings as necessary. A current driving licence is required and must be maintained.
