Job Description

The Mission Controller (MC) is responsible for planning and execution of activities performed for the operation of a complex real-time system. Candidate should have attention to detail in coordinating system assets and resources for a 24x7 operational system and be able to work well under deadlines. The ideal candidate will display strong written and oral communication skills and have the ability to manage time and priorities.

Other duties also include the following:

  • Support re-planning for contingency and emergency operations.
  • Resolve issues following pre-defined procedures.
  • Work rotating shifts in a 24x7 operations team environment to include weekends and holidays.
  • Document system discrepancies as well as identify and propose opportunities for system improvement.
  • Understand documentation associated with position and provide updates as required.
  • Certification required – Combination of self-led reading, observation, and experiential learning (OJT) with passing evaluation from designated trainer, Operations Manager, and Training Lead

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

**This position requires an active/current Top Secret/SCI clearance and is contingent on clearance verification and customer concurrence (Pre-Start). Please include clearance and date of recent SSBI on profile/resume to be considered.**

Qualifications

Typical Education/Experience:

Technical bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

 

Required Experience:

  • Hands on experience working in a UNIX/LINUX environment
  • Capable of working any shift
  • Experience in Space/Satellite systems
  • Basic knowledge of Linux commands
  • Experience with Customer relations
