Job Description

The Boeing Company is seeking a systems engineer to join a high performing project team, assisting with the development, management, integration, operation, and maintenance of a complex, multi-tiered data processing system used in an operational support posture. Team projects require the delivery, configuration management, installation and check out of system software, rehearsal of system scenarios, and the validation of and end-to-end system involving system hardware and software, commercial database systems and computer network infrastructure.

This individual will participate in all many phases of the computer software and data processing system life cycle, including concept of operations development, requirements verification and analysis, software and hardware system design validation, risk management, system integration, system test and system documentation.

Engineering duties will include:

  • Work with mentor to develop concepts of operations to meet end user need
  • Work with the team to develop expertise for various technical topics and become the domain expert in a key area
  • Author system software installation documentation that details the required integration and activation steps
  • Support the integration of databases that support system application software verification
  • Train and work as an operations system engineer on an as needed basis to support program events
  • Perform engineering quality and risk reviews of delivery plans and system operations directives
  • Support program software delivery and integration approval meetings
  • Support integration and test activities, to include specifying detailed objectives for system validation activities
  • Support the development of end user documentation, engineering documentation, and system operations procedures
  • Support and execute system simulations and rehearsal events to manage system risks and to develop system procedures
  • Support the development of system engineering technical proposals for the purpose of acquiring additional work

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

 
Offer is contingent upon program access and ability to obtain final clearance (Pre-Start) U.S. Citizen required.

Qualifications

Typical Education/Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to certify and cross train in other program areas as required;
  • Required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • Expected to independently work a project with concurrent tasks and communicate status to their lead
  • Working knowledge of both Linux/Unix and Windows based systems
  • Current security clearance at Top Secret level or higher
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Desired Skills:

  • Some knowledge and experience with the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process, or other corrective action resolution processes to include basic understanding of managing/assessing troubleshooting artifacts;
