The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced Software Engineer to join Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space Modeling, Simulation, Training, and Exercise (MSTX) Software Engineering team. This position will support Battle Management, Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) programs in Colorado Springs, CO.
The program is growing and needs software engineers to develop our nation’s next generation of space training systems. The successful candidate will be developing cutting edge technology in an agile environment with multiple long-term projects needing support. We seek candidates who have advanced skills in software development and want to bring their skills to the next level through mentoring and hands-on development which include requirements development, understanding design implementation and writing the code supporting space modeling, simulation, integration, testing, training, and exercises.
As a member of the MSTX team, you will be responsible for key portions of our software development lifecycle, from idea creation and development, all the way through to maintenance and support of the customer’s delivered system. More importantly, you will have the opportunity to make an impact on the results of our projects. The MSTX team offers a collaborative mentoring environment where you have the opportunity to learn from others and be a mentor to our staff.
Position Responsibilities:
- Proficient in either Java, Python, or C++
- Prior experience at leading tasks within a production development environment to include software design, development in both Linux and Windows environments, debug, and performing software integration of various technologies
- Agile software development and product line leadership
- Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
- Developing software requirements
- Understanding design implementation
- Continuous testing and delivery
- Spacecraft modeling and simulation algorithm design and implementation
- Integration of spacecraft digital twins
- Integration of ground systems
- Docker container design and implementation
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 3+ years’ experience coding in either Java, Python, and/or C++
- Experience working within integrated development environments
- Experience with Linux and Window development
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment utilizing Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) or similar tools.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance
- Experience with full stack software development
- Experience with container development
- Experience with DevOps or DevSecOps
- Experience with containerization approaches
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range:
Experienced (Level 3) $87,000 – $154,000

To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
