PROGRAM INFORMATION:

The C2BMC Program provides technical solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. C2BMC is the integrating element for the Ballistic Missile Defense System and links various sensors and weapon systems. The system provides capabilities to integrate and synchronize missile defense systems and operations, providing a layered defense against multiple ranges of threats and in all phases of flight.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include 1) Developing new applications and prototypes using the latest Service Oriented Architecture approaches, 2) investigation of new software technologies, and 3) implementing experiments and proof of concept demonstrations leading to insertion of new capabilities into the Ballistic Missile Defense System and, in particular, the C2BMC and Global Integrated Fire Control (GIFC) Systems.  The candidate will plan, perform, and lead various C2BMC Experimentation Lab (X-Lab) experiments and demonstrations.  Work with other team members to generate Java code, communicate to management the project schedules, status, results, benefits, and road to operationalization of the experiment into C2BMC.   Possess the ability to learn new domain information, to apply the new information, and to use innovation and new technologies.

This position requires candidate acceptance by industry partner resource control board.

 

This position requires an active Secret  U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Successful candidate will have strong experience in software development/ systems architecture with the ability to apply new technologies for insertion into the BMDS C2BMC system.  Requires hands-on software development and integration experience, including experience with Service Oriented Architectures, such as Net Enabled Command Capability (NECC).  Experience required with the latest middleware software technologies, such as JMS, J2EE, Spring and development tools such as Eclipse.  GUI/ HMI background helpful.

 

Candidate should be able to develop object-oriented code in JAVA, perform UNIX scripting, troubleshoot, identify, and resolve systems integration problems.  Must be a self-starter and have excellent writing and speaking capabilities.  Experience with national missile defense capabilities, C2BMC, and web/portal development is a plus.  Top Secret clearance highly desired.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Successful candidate must have strong experience in conceptualizing, architecting, designing, and hands-on implementation of Command and Control/ Battle Management software systems.   Must have ability to investigate and perform visionary development of new net-centric architectures in a new technology/ experimentation environment, with various roles in architecting, designing, and implementing enhancements for the BMDS C2BMC system.

Qualifications

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires an active Secret  U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Software Engineering.
  • Experience developing software solutions in the Java programming language

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

  • Experience with missile defense system elements such as C2BMC, THAAD, GMD, Aegis and/or AN/TPY2
  • Experience with User Interface (UI), and human/machine interface (HMI)concepts
  • Experience leading a java software development team
