Job Description

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a mid-level software development engineer to join its Colorado Springs location. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Performs software project management and software supplier management functions.
  • Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.
  • Executes and documents software research and development projects.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

Qualifications

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Current/Active Secret  security clearance is required. (Note: If you
    held a security clearance within the last two years, your clearance is considered current/active).
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a software development engineer.  .

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with JAVA, Python and the Red Hat Linux Operating System.
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense.
  • Periodic travel on an infrequent basis.
  • Familiarity with software programming languages and databases and the ability to apply to the software domain. (Programming languages encompass higher order languages, auto-coded languages and assembly languages.)
  • Basic familiarity with general and software development and testing tools, capability and usage. (Examples include compilers, linkers, debuggers, data analysis tools, graphical user interface builders, post processing tools, requirements management tools, and web authoring tools.)
  • Familiarity with how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.

Typical Education/Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
