Job Description

Boeing Test & Evaluation is seeking a Level 3 Industrial Engineer for a position in El Segundo, California.


As a Level 3 Industrial Engineer you will be responsible for applying advanced Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analyses and decision tools under general supervision to promote and implement changes in manufacturing, engineering, and service operations.


In this role, you will be independently developing models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operations research, engineering economics) and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers). You will lead the analysis of complex data sets using advanced analytics techniques such as machine learning, advanced statistical analysis, mathematical optimization and simulation.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Identifies modeling attributes and parameters.
  • Applies algorithms to create descriptive, predictive or prescriptive models to achieve analysis aligned to business goals and objectives.
  • You will investigate complex data characteristics, quality and meaning.
  • Through visualizations and summarizations, defines performance, identifies trends, outliers and drivers. Identifies potential trouble areas and suitability of data.
  •  Provides mitigation recommendations.
  • Lead, facilitate, and/or participate in cross-functional team activities in determining solutions for complex problems that require a high level of ingenuity and innovation.
  • Conducts review sessions with participating organizations and presents the final proposal to all levels of management.
  • Use your skills to research, design, develop, improve and implement processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost and improve quality through the application of advanced Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.
  • Utilize advance engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics) to develop optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) in the creation and validation of products.
  • Furthermore you will analyze and design value streams, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).

Qualifications

Typical Education/Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in Industrial Engineering 
  • Experience in the following: Metric Analysis, Process Modeling, Manufacturing Operations Support, Project Management, Lean Manufacturing, Statistical/Trend Analysis, Capacity Planning, Work Methods Analysis/Time Standards, Root Cause Analysis and Value Stream Analysis, Facilities Layout Design, or Inventory Control
  • Experience working with all levels of employees
  • Experience gathering and documenting data
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
