Job Description

The Boeing Space and Launch Division is seeking a highly motivated leader to provide management oversight for a subset of the Power Systems and Sources Engineering Function. This candidate will lead High-performing teams that are immersed in development and high NRE projects. The Manager/Leader will lead and inspire teams to increase Performance, First time Quality, and Affordability in addition to serving as a change agent to champion change at a high rate and enable the teams’ success in their efforts.


The position reports to the Senior Power Systems and Sources Engineering Manager and Department Manager of Satellite Common Products. This role will include direct reports accountable for Satellite Power Systems, Harness Systems, Battery, and Solar Array engineering across Government and Commercial Satellite Programs. This leader will be accountable to support the Senior Power Systems and Sources Engineering Manager in the execution of engineering as well as strategic roadmap and future product development. This leader will drive innovation and motivate the workforce and suppliers in a challenging environment. This leader will have responsibility for achieving quality, cost, schedule, risk mitigation and technical performance targets across multiple Product Line IPTs. Knowledge and practical application experience in the non-recurring and production environments is a differentiator. Must exemplify the Boeing Values in day-to-day operations.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Career development of all assigned engineers.
  • Manage program staffing, growing and developing team/talent, retention, recruiting and hiring for program needs; assign required company training.
  • Participate in leadership development activities and identify succession plans.
  • Conduct personnel performance appraisals and salary reviews.
  • Mentor engineers within the subsystem disciplines within Spacecraft; and developing, managing and enforcing critical processes and standards for subsystem execution.
  • Driving affordability, innovation and creativity.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Experience working with external customers.
  • Experience with system engineering architecture and definition.



Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Proven abilities to lead a matrixed team and manage engineering disciplines across spacecraft elements and mission operations.
  • Proven experience with delivering on program commitments – technical, Cost, Schedule and risk management.
  • Experience leading engineering teams for commercial or government satellite programs.
  • Experience in Space/Satellite systems.
  • Experience in advanced knowledge of the System Engineering process, including requirements definition, verification & validation, and risk management.
  • Program systems engineering experience with contractual SOW, IMP/IMS, technical requirements documentation, ECPs, Gated Practice, etc.
  • Strong communication skills to interface with different program and customer teams.
  • Periodic briefings will be given to Executive Management.
  • Requires the ability to effectively interface and communicate with Senior Managers and Directors.
  • 5 years of experience with elements of Battery, Solar Array, Power and Harness Systems Engineering
  • 5+ years working with external customers.
  • Strong communication skills.
