Job Description
In Space Vehicle Engineering is looking for a highly motivated, mid career experienced, Propulsion Engineer. Specifically, the team is looking for candidates that have a strong background in Systems Engineering, Electric Propulsion, and/or IPT Leadership experience in the field of Propulsion. The candidate will be supporting the In-Space Vehicles Propulsion Organization who supports multiple satellite product lines and other spacecraft in El Segundo.
 
In Space Vehicles Propulsion Accountabilities:
We are looking for candidates that have industry experience in some of the below key roles. Please note, the expectation when applying is not to have experience in all of the roles below, yet these are examples of types of roles you may be placed into based on your experience.
 
Systems Engineer
- We are looking for Propulsion Experts who can demonstrate that they’ve supported defining propulsion system requirements, led and performed propulsion systems analysis, defined requirements for propellant loading, and supported Missions Activities

Electric Propulsion
- Candidates who have helped design, manufacture, or test electric propulsion subsystems and/or candidates who have defined requirements and qualified electric propulsion subsystems are strongly preferred! This candidate will demonstrate their ability to understand the key failure mechanisms within the thrusters, power supplies, flow controllers and other hardware associated with varying electric propulsion subsystems.

IPT (Project Lead)
- Candidates who have Propulsion based IPT experience overseeing the design, manufacturing, and test of propulsion subsystems installed into spacecraft. This candidate should have familiarity with financial management (EACs) and schedule management. Candidate will work closely with and lead engineering efforts with Propulsion Systems Engineering, Propulsion REAs, Propulsion Design & Manufacturing, Supplier Management, Quality, Specialty Engineering, Dynamics Structures Engineering, Power Subsystem Engineering and others to ensure the propulsion subsystem is designed, manufactured, and tested to meet the mission requirements

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • A Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry is required
 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Space based propulsion and Electric Propulsion experience preferred
  • An active SSBI/Program Access US Security Clearance is preferred
 

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Aerospace, Propulsion, Aeronautics, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronic engineering or Physics/Plasma Physics is the preferred accreditation standard.
