Job Description

The Boeing Space and Launch Division is seeking a highly motivated Manager to provide oversight for a subset of the Propulsion Engineering Function. This candidate will lead High-performing teams that are immersed in development and high NRE projects. The Propulsion Engineering Manager role will include direct reports including propulsion engineers accountable for Systems Engineering, Missions Support, REA Support, Electric Propulsion, and/or Design/Manufacturing across Government and Commercial Satellite Programs. This leader will be accountable to support the Senior Propulsion Manager in the execution of the current propulsion product engineering and manufacturing as well as the strategic roadmap and future product development. The ideal candidate will drive innovation and motivate the workforce and suppliers in a challenging environment. The candidate will also have responsibility for achieving quality, cost, schedule, risk mitigation and technical performance targets across multiple Product Line IPTs. This position is located in El Segundo, CA.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Flight Engineering.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers stakeholders peers partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches products and processes.
  • Manages develops and motivates employees.

Qualifications

This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

 

Typical Education / Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

 

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • A minimum two (2) years of experience leading a team.
  • A minimum five (5) years of experience with propulsion, rocket propulsion and satellite. 

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Experience leading an Integrated Product Team (IPT) on an air or space vehicle programs.
