Job Description
The Boeing Company is seeking a Stress Analysis Engineer in El Segundo, CA to assist with efforts in the BDS division. The Stress Analysis Engineer (Early Career Experienced) will perform basic structural analysis using well defined analysis tools (NASTRAN, PATRAN, CREO-Simulate, Common Structures Workstation and home-grown tools) to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance for satellite product lines.

 

 



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  •  Performs basic structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools, to support drawing release and limited support to the Manufacturing Review Board process.
  •  Develops complex structural math models and performs analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses in order to verify structural integrity.
  • Performs basic structural analysis to support response to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation and regulatory agency coordination.
  •  Performs structural analysis to support trade studies and configuration development.
  • Creates strength check notes to document analysis. Provides inputs to formal documentation, to show compliance with Boeing, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and supports in-house software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks.
  •  Assists in the research and preparation of data, to support definition of structural design requirements.
  • Researches new technology applications, new product designs and structural life enhancement concepts, to support product improvement
  •  Performs basic pre-test analysis, monitors tests, analyzes and correlates test data, and documents results, to develop and certify structural concepts, investigates failures and develops material allowables.

Qualifications
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
 
 
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.




Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):
  • Successfully completed a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years


  • ABET accreditation is preferred

  • Knowledge or experience using NASTRAN and PATRAN finite element modeling software

  • Knowledge or experience do you have in stress analysis
 
 
 
Typical Education & Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
 
 

This position is based in El Segundo, CA. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
