Job Description



Coordinates the creation of a business architecture for multiple products, applications and/or systems in a domain. Creates a high-level strategy and design view of processes, products in the domain solution portfolio as well as integration needs within a portfolio and across multiple portfolios. Makes trade-offs across the solution portfolio and designs the architecture to accomplish cross-system objectives


  • Utilizes system engineering concepts and techniques to evaluate the completeness and correctness of the domain solution portfolio, reviews and analyzes current technology infrastructure and its ability to support strategic business objectives. Ensures systems and interfaces are well-defined and exhibit desired business behaviors. Prepares architecture documents and technical papers documenting and advocating the decisions affecting the architecture of multiple systems. Advises on product strategy for the domain solution portfolio. Investigates new technologies and product opportunities that could be used to generate competitive advantage. Works with all departments within organization to assist in testing systems to ensure functionality is satisfactory. Identifies business and technology trends and evaluates their impact on the domain solution portfolio.
  • Monitors the implementation of architecture throughout the domain and provides technical mentoring, guidance and clarification to other architects and technical implementation resources
  • Provides effective communication to business and technical community on behalf of the domain.
  • Applies appropriate estimating techniques to determine the level of effort and financial investment required for the technical implementation of the solution.


Education and Experience;


Technical degree in a related field of study and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Completely understands and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Possesses general knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Develops solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions. Receives general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results, reaching erroneous decisions or making recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
  • Interacts frequently with inter-organizational personnel and external customers. Represents the organization by providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
