Job Description
Summary:
Leverage significant experience in software/systems engineering on solution/product development programs/projects for the development and improvement of approaches for specifying requirements, needs analysis, assessing alternatives, and defining development artifacts appropriate for scaled agile development. Work largely focused on fast-paced agile requirement development with challenging safety/quality compliance aviation requirements addressing military, commercial, business, and general aviation needs. 
 
Essential Duties:
  • Work with portfolio and solution architects/engineers, product and solution business owners, engineering group leadership, systems engineers and business/requirement analysts, test and assurance analysts across DA&A development teams in locations around the world.
  • May temporarily fulfill the role of systems engineer on projects that need systems engineering rigor, discipline, and leadership.
  • May directly participate in major customer studies.
  • Guides development of nonfunctional requirements with clear acceptance criteria to enable rapid flow/feedback with verification approach and trace to verification results.
  • Develops and implements organizational approaches to systems engineering and requirement analysis, relationship to business drivers/constraints, relationship to architecture drivers/constraints, quality attributes, and considers impact to the software development process.  Ensure effective process and interaction model/cadence across the agile-based software development process.
  • Determines, documents, and implements the approach for managing requirements and systems engineering interaction required across development organization on key projects.
  • Determines and resolves issues associated with projects/teams requirements/systems engineering approach, artifacts, and/or outcomes.
  • Provides effective communication to business and technical community on behalf of the systems engineering discipline.
  • Organize and lead requirement retrospectives/deep dives including root cause analysis.
  • Organize and facilitate community of practice discussions on agile systems engineering topics, including preparing and conducting research, developing reports, providing presentations.
  • Contributes outside Software Development to groups across Boeing and industry/discipline to champion, evolve, or establish best practices as well as innovate and establish ways of working.  As such, keeps current on state of the art in systems engineering methods/tools for incremental/agile frameworks.
  • Provides effective communication to business and technical community on behalf of the systems engineering discipline.
  • Provides knowledge and process support as well as coaching/mentoring as needed on agile systems engineering principles/practices.  
  • Creates and maintains the principle DA&A agile systems engineering artifacts and communications for Software Development organization. 
 
Education/Experience:
Technical degree in a related field of study and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Completely understands and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Possesses general knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Develops solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions. Receives general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results, reaching erroneous decisions or making recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
  • Interacts frequently with inter-organizational personnel and external customers. Represents the organization by providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
