Boeing Commercial Airplanes is looking for a Senior Envisioneer in support of the Airplane Level and Engineering Integration (ALEI) organization within BCA Engineering. The position will be based out of Everett, WA.
Here is your chance to become an Envisioneer. An Envisioneer creates artistic representations of concepts or systems often prior to the development of requirements. We call it “Envisioneering” because its core intent is to “Envision” in an “Engineering” context. This practice has many facets including drawing in real time in front of people to bring their ideas into form in something we call "live catch”, on the fly at Hackathons, or through meetings with clients where listening and understanding are key to discovery.
This work helps teams understand and discuss challenging or abstract topics often relating to process flows that cross many disciplines and organizations. This work speeds the path to communication, solution identification, and process development. The practice of the Envisioneering discipline happens in many venues including "live catch" at workshops or non-real-time through analysis of documents and artifacts. Envisioneering is an integration role meaning that the artistic product is often clarifying the meaning between different perspectives in order to arrive at or uncover the essential intentions of a cross-functional team.
The successful candidate must trust their creativity. They must be passionate about understanding the meaning that people express in a way that facilitates improved communication. Demonstrated capability with illustration or graphics media is essential. The candidate must also be able to balance the use of color, symbolism, caricature, humor, and motion to achieve enhanced levels of communication. Being good with people and being able to manage a large crowd is also crucial. The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable interpreting the meaning that often underlies the spoken word. This being an Engineering organization, being able to understand technical language and systems is important as well as having standard professional skills like time management and meeting commitments.
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Everett, WA.
