Are you interested an opportunity to solve unremitting complex challenges? The Boeing Company is seeking talented Mid-level Software Engineers to join our team in Fairfax, Virginia. In this position you will design and build Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) products for the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and allied customers. Our products intercept Radio Frequency (RF) signals, apply signal processing algorithms, distribute the processed results and display it to operators. These systems are deployed to manned aircraft, unmanned aircraft, ships, submarines, and ground mobile platforms.
Position Summary:
Our close-knit engineering teams collaborate on unique and novel solutions to complex problems. Software engineers participate in full life cycle software development tasks utilizing primarily Java and C++ programming languages. Our application development domain includes embedded control, digital signal processing, machine learning, enterprise applications, middleware and user interface development. Candidates have the ability to specialize in a single domain or cross-train.
Our engineering teams support the entire product development life-cycle including requirements development, analysis, software design, coding, unit testing, integration, installation and maintenance. Our engineers develop new ideas based on technical and domain experience, and work in a multi-disciplinary environment to solve our customers' problems. Position Responsibilities:
Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
Performs software project management functions.
Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.
Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
Tracks and evaluates software team to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
Collaborative teamwork skills.
Demonstrates creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
5+ years’ experience in software engineering
5+ years’ experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python
Experience with concurrent software and distributed systems
5+ years’ experience in software development life cycles, configuration management and best agile software engineering practices
5+ years’ experience developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
2+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment
1+ years’ experience leading software development projects
Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) system experience
Current Top Secret SCI clearance
Typical Education:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
