Job Description

Boeing's Electronic and Information Solutions (E&IS) subsidiary Digital Receiver Technology (DRT) is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team in Germantown, MD.  A qualified candidate must demonstrate the ability to Design and Implement Real-Time Software Applications for DRT's Software Defined Radio independently.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide end user solutions
    Design, Implement, Test, Document, and Maintain the current and next generation Software Defined Radios and Electronic Systems
  • Work independently to enhance DRT's SDR Architecture, Development, and Integration & Test of software components into fully functional software systems
  • Write test procedures and document test results to ensure all system and derived requirements are met
  • Support Business Development, Project Management and DRT's Customer Base


Candidate should be able to work independently without direct supervision

Basic (Required) Experience:

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • Proficient with C/C++ and Java
  • Experience with developing application software using Windows or Linux OS and VMs
  • Experience and/or background in SW test
  • Familiar with Object Oriented Design Methodologies
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as SVN and Git

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with both Windows OS and Linux OS Application Software Development experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of multi-threaded applications and systems
  • Experience and Course work with Operating Systems, Socket Comms, Data structure, Algorithms
  • WiFi, Cellular communications/protocols, and/or networking
  • Experience with developing applications with socket communications UDP/TCP/IP .. etc
  • Experience with JavaScript, Angular.js or React.js is a plus
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL Databases is a plus
  • Agile methodology is desirable

Typical Education/Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
