The programme based out of Gosport provides support for the UK’s Chinook fleet of almost 60 helicopters through the Through Life Customer Support (TLCS) contract and the Chinook Engine Support Arrangement (CESA).

The Materials Manager will support the complete cycle of material flow—from the purchase and control of materials to the planning and control of work in process and the finished product. In short you will ensure that an organization’s available goods can satisfy the demands of customers.

Organizations depend on effective materials managers to minimize waste, manage inventory levels, and ensure that output is in line with the company’s balance sheet.

You’ll actively engage with the Customer and Programme Manager to agree, define and implement strategic objectives in terms of Inventory optimization and support for the customer.

Ensure Supply Chain solutions are defined and implemented to support cycle time reduction and enhanced material availability within an Airframe & Aircraft Component MRO environment, to include management of Key Performance Indicators relevant to Inventory levels, supply chain cycle time efficiency and On Time Delivery.

A key responsibility will be to work aggressively with the Customer and programmes to implement and execute inventory reduction activity to reduce stockholding to optimum levels and increase annual stack turn performance.

To provide leadership and development for the team to generate a competent and professional function able to grow and ensure business goals and objectives are flowed down to the team formally and periodically reviewed as part of the Boeing performance management process.

Actively work to develop and implement cost reduction and process improvement initiatives through the use of Employee Involvement Teams and the Boeing Lean+ processes.

Further develop material availability solutions for key suppliers where required.

Develop and maintain customer relations both inside and outside of the organisation.

Actively seeks information to understand customer’s circumstances, problems, expectations and needs.

Must possess a thorough understanding of Earned Value Management in order to manage the programme material budgets.

Qualifications

We are seeking to employ an individual with a proven track record of building and managing an effective team, motivating others, promoting a productive work environment, listening to others and managing performance. Strategic vision, combined with the ability to make things happen.

Experience of working within a multi stakeholder, multi customer environment where requirements are constantly evolving.

Ideally you’ll hold a Bachelors or equivalent degree along with supply chain industry association membership and specific certifications.
