Boeing Defence UK limited (BDUK) works closely with our customers to provide ongoing support and services to multiple public sector organisations for the UK government and MoD. First arriving in the UK 40 years ago, BDUK maintains the UK’s Chinook fleet of 60 helicopters under the Through Life Customer Support (TLCS) contract, the Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS) upgrade programme and the Chinook Engine Support Arrangement (CESA).
BDUK is recruiting for a Programme Manager leading the development and delivery of high value, strategically important programme execution activities and to support the Chinook Programme Manager throughout the programme lifecycle. This is a full time role based at our Gosport site with some options for remote working. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented individual with first-class leadership and motivational skills. They must be able to inspire outstanding work from team members with a range of experience and technical abilities. Other requirements include excellent, interpersonal, communication and time management skills, with a strong knowledge of functional disciplines and experience of managing supply chain partners. This position requires a subject matter expert in programme and project management with extensive experience in leading large, complex international programmes in order to ensure we deliver against our customer commitments.
A proven work history is required in a programme management environment and in executing complex programmes, ideally with a background in managing programmes within the Defence Aerospace sector and more specifically Rotorcraft. The ideal candidate will already be familiar with a wide range of specialized process tools, and materials, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint and Boeing or industry recognised systems to manage risks, issues & opportunities, contracts, change processing and estimating.
Responsibilities:
Leads execution of complex programme management execution activities
Implements and maintains established processes for executing programmes
Leads Continuous Improvement of the Programme Management best practices
Prevents and resolves complex problems
Develops negotiation strategies and negotiates complex bids with customers
Manages bid preparation and presents to Executive Management approval boards
Designs and streamlines models and processes
Selects, evaluates and applies company standards, policies and procedures
Establishes high level professional networks and customer / supplier rapport to facilitate company objectives and customer satisfaction.
Partners in the development of business unit strategy and achievement of long term strategies; reviews business needs identified by business management
Leads development of the programme architecture and top level plans for a programme.
Develops programme organizational work structures, top level programme and execution plans. Identifies key programme level horizontal and vertical integration interfaces between major activities teams suppliers partners and customers.
Supports the Chinook programme manager in leading programme start-up, baseline establishment and transition into performance phase.
Integrates the implementation of the Programme Management Best Practices. Implements customer and programme communication and contact plans.

International Traffic in Arms Requirements - Knowledge of US ITAR requirements.
Contract Terms, Processes & Commercial Awareness - Knowledge of contract structure, to draft and document unique and complex proposals and agreements in a form that meets legal/business requirements. Knowledge of negotiation and contracting processes.
Preferred Education/ Experience:
Candidates will ideally have a Bachelor’s or Masters degree or equivalent in Programme Management OR Engineering with extensive work experience in the defence / aerospace industry.
Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship.
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
