The Aircraft Support Business unit is looking for a Lead Project Financial Analyst (also known as Project Accountant) to join its Business Operations Team acting as a Business Partner to several key operational areas. This role will be a team lead role helping to coach and mentor junior analysts in the team and helping management to build up the finance capability within the Aircraft Support and wider Boeing Defence UK.


The successful candidate will work to ensure the proper visibility of performance of the Aircraft Support Programmes.  This position will perform the following roles:

• Operate as a Business Partner to several key operational areas

• Act as primary financial focal point for the designated business areas providing the management team within that area with full financial support and information to enable timely and accurate decision making

• Utilize Earned Value Management techniques and tools to interpret, analyse and understand monthly performance information, the drivers behind any cost variances and support the preparation of mitigation and action plans to resolve any issues

• Provide financial support to the management of both core sustainment activities and over and above orders and ensure that both cost and schedule performance in both of these areas is in line with targets

• Manage the monthly and quarterly financial forecasting process across your designated business areas

• Evaluate the potential impact of Risks and Opportunities and support operational teams to identify and implement mitigation plans driving profitability

• Report programme performance including progress to plan, performance taken, and remaining effort, including effects on Orders, Revenue, Earnings & Cash

• Work with schedulers and business planning analysts to ensure cost integrity to the performance measurement baseline

• Support the development of performance reporting metrics and management information for use by programme leadership team

• Lead and develop other members of the team on all aspects of project controlling

• Provide in-depth analysis and recommendations for the business and support strategy development and strategic direction for the financial operations team

• Experience working within an operations-facing finance team, acting as a Business Partner to key operational managers

• Prior experience of EVM (preferably using Deltek COBRA and Open Plan)

• Ability to lead and train employees

• Skilled team member/contributor

• Business (Financial) Acumen

• Strong Written and Oral Communication skills

• Driving for Business Results

• Customer satisfaction focus

• IT proficient (particularly Excel, Powerpoint)



Background in Accounting, Economics, Business, Finance or Project Accounting/controlling preferred. CIMA / ACCA preferred.  The successful candidate will be from a multi-disciplinary background with a proven track record of having demonstrated the key competences listed above.
