Job Description


Boeing's Autonomous Marine and Maritime Systems (AM&MS) is a business unit within Boeing Defense, Space and Security that provides creative solutions to undersea systems problems. AM&MS is the Boeing center of excellence in undersea systems engineering, undersea structures, Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) guidance/navigation, user interface and embedded software development for command & control. AM&MS performs a full range of systems integration and testing.

AM&MS is seeking a System Engineer to be located in Herndon, VA to support efforts to define notional concepts and systems engineering solutions to customer requirements to advanced communication, signal processing systems and other systems.

Systems Requirements development, management, and verification, System Performance modeling, analysis, and Algorithm development using Matlab is highly desired. In addition, System Test planning, execution, and reporting as well as other Systems Engineering functions are required to support system development and fielding


Position Responsibilities

  • Supports work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Plan, design, develop and verify lifecycle balanced system solutions for a highly complex hardware/software system;
  • Allocate performance budgets and analyze and report on test data. support and evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Lead analyses and design activities to optimize total system architecture.
  • Occasional travel to customer and teammate locations is required.

Qualifications

This position requires an active Top Secret (TS/SCI) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. 

(If you held a security clearance within the last two years, your clearance is considered current/active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) 

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering classification (engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry)
  • Education or experience with systems engineering principles

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Knowledge of (electronic interfaces, equipment environmental requirements
  • Agile work environment
  • Modeling skills (MATLAB)

 This position is located in Herndon, VA and does not offer relocation assistance. Applicants must reside in area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

 

 

Typical Education/Experience

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
