Boeing’s Global Engagement (BGE) function is currently seeking a Community and Government Relations Specialist to join their team in Huntington Beach, CA.

As Boeing’s NS&E representative in Orange County (Huntington Beach), you will support Southwest Region NS&E team efforts to meet the needs of Boeing and the community by investing in strategically aligned programs with nonprofits and representing Boeing’s interests within political, trade, industry and professional organizations. Additionally, you will lead employee community engagement opportunities and support employee giving initiatives.
Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, peers, internal leaders and external partners, including government, community and nonprofit leaders
Serve as subject matter expert for local community issues and provide recommendations to ensure effective community engagement
Lead implementation of Boeing’s charitable grant strategy and process, currently including education in California (early learning, K-8, and environmental education). Process to include implementing effective proposal evaluation criteria, developing approval justifications, managing distribution process for charitable contributions and evaluating investments to ensure quantifiable results and performance to plan
Represent the company as directed across the region, including in public settings (e.g., Boeing-sponsored community events)
Promote Government Operations priorities and provide subject matter expertise to site leadership and other company leaders who manage and participate in external relationships
Influence elected officials, decision makers and stakeholders by providing information related to issues, communicating effects and providing recommendations in order to best represent the interests of the company
Develop and implement actionable and measurable community investment, business sponsorship and advocacy plans that align to corporate strategies and ensure effective use of company resources
Identify how community involvement can support business objectives, and develop and implement execution plans, ensuring that all activities align to NS&E strategy and support the Boeing brand
Build strategic cross-functional and cross-organizational partnerships to resolve problems, improve processes and achieve operational and strategic goals
Other duties as identified by leadership
Cross-functional collaboration and cooperation within Government Operations, as well as with Communications, Human Resources, Ethics, Legal, University Relations and Boeing subsidiaries
Frequent local travel to support events sponsored or otherwise supported by Boeing, as well as periodic travel outside the Southern California region to attend meetings and events
Attend community events and functions that often occur after business hours and on weekends

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
5+ years of experience using strategic problem-solving/analysis and communicating at senior management levels
5+ years of communication experience, both written and verbal, with public speaking and frequent interactions with senior-level management
5+ years of experience delivering presentations
5+ years of experience influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders and partnerships across functions
5+ years of experience using all the following Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Willing to travel domestically as needed
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher
Experience working with non-profit organizations and/or at community engagements
Corporate and nonprofit funding experience
Experience in evaluating nonprofit 990 data
Experience developing/implementing strategic plans
Prior relationships with government and community leaders in Orange County and the greater Southern California region including elected officials and staff, civic and trade associations, business and nonprofit leaders and the general public
Willing to work variable hours on occassion; including days, evenings, nights and weekends
Prior experience with corporate or community relations or corporate giving programs
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years' related work experience, 14 years' related work experience, etc.)
