Job Description

The Boeing Company is seeking a Software Engineer to work in Huntington Beach and El Segundo, CA. This engineering position involves the development of spacecraft system software packages, including payload applications and algorithms, command and control systems, and test bed software tool development.

  • Job responsibilities will address all phases of the software development cycle – including requirements and interface definition; design and development; integration and test; documentation; configuration management and release; and product maintenance. 
  • This position will also require the ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with internal and external customers, during development and after product release.
  • The candidate will also be expected to manage several parallel tasks as part of a dynamic team of systems and software engineers.

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) Secret level U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):

• Software development experience required in a Windows or Linux environment, including proficiency developing code using Java.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):

• Prefer familiarity with common databases (sql server, postgresql, mysql, sqlite, Access), scripting languages (e.g., Tcl/Tk, Bash, Perl, Python), LABVIEW, and development of software tools.
• Familiarity with GPS Systems, applicable ICDs, and an understanding of navigation message structures and code generation is also considered a plus.
• Should be willing to work on a variety of projects, work independently, and take the initiative to explore emerging technologies.

Typical Education/ Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
