Job Description

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), Special Programs is seeking a highly productive, self-motivated Systems Engineer / High Performance Computing Systems Architect (Level 4).  You will work with multiple engineering and support groups, on both ongoing operational efforts and exciting future projects for a highly valued, dynamic program.

 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Integrates high performance computing systems to support scientific analysis and software development activities, with emphasis in configuring and tuning high performance computing and storage systems.
  • Works with scientists, engineers and analysts in coding and debugging algorithms in a parallel processing environment.
  • Work with other organizations in developing system requirements, vendor statements of work.
  • Collaborate within a small team environment as well as work multiple tasks independently with minimal direction.
  • Use creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills across a broad domain of high performance computing components and activities.
  • Solve challenging problems.
  • Apply systems engineering best practices to fine-tune high performance computing and storage systems to achieve the highest performance possible.

Qualifications

This position requires an active Current Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

 

Basic (Required) Qualifications

  • This position requires successful completion of a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related scientific or technical discipline.
  • Experience with defining and integrating computing and storage systems.
  • Experience with high performance computing networking and storage concepts and architectures is required.

Preferred (Desired) Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies is needed: high performance computing processing and storage environments, parallel file systems, and Perl / Python / shell scripting.
  • Experience with OS Environments: Unix/Linux, Windows.
  • Experience with computing security requirements.
  • Expertise in networking, computing and storage systems engineering
  • Security+ certification
  • Experience with installing, configuring, integrating and maintaining IBM’s Spectrum Scale parallel file systems into a high performance computing environment.
  • Expertise with Redhat Enterprise Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with large scale, high performance storage systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
