Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Space Launch Systems (SLS) program is seeking Flight Engineering Managers to manage engineers and specialists analyzing, developing, testing, deploying, and operating Rocket Propulsion (RP) components, subsystems, and systems from Huntsville, AL or Houston, TX.

The RP Team on the SLS program analyzes, designs, develops, tests, integrates, and operates the various RP stages of the SLS.  The SLS is the largest RP effort ever undertaken and this team was recognized as a Team Winner in the 2024 RNASA Stellar award.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Flight Engineering.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 3+ years of experience overseeing rocket propulsion design development.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or Astrodynamics Engineering.
  • Master of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Astrodynamics Engineering, and/or Engineering Management.
  • Experience leading an engineering team as a Technical Lead Engineer (TLE), LX, etc.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Safety Sensitive Statement:

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
