Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Mid-Level Industrial Engineer to join the Electronics Center of Excellence and Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) program team located in Huntsville, AL at the Jetplex facility.
The Electronic Center of Excellence (ExCoE) builds circuit card assemblies for 18 programs across the Boeing weapons portfolio. The ExCoE is a high rate production factory, which builds 40+ circuit card assemblies daily.
The Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) program is an air-defense, missile system designed to counter tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and advanced aircraft where Boeing is the original engineering manufacturer of the seeker. Boeing’s seekers provide active data to the PAC-3 missile which enables it to acquire, intercept and destroy threats using hit-to-kill technology.
The ExCoE and PAC-3 Seeker teams are cross functional, highly skilled, motivated groups, embracing the beliefs that focused safety, execution, LEAN manufacturing and business practices will secure our future and well-being, driving our products.
Position Responsibilities:
Applies advanced Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis and decision tools to promote and implement changes in manufacturing, engineering and service operations.
Independently develops models, data bases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operations research, engineering economics), and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers).
Researches, designs, develops, improves, and implements processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the application of advanced Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.
Independently manages, defines, negotiates, and controls the scope, cost, and timing of projects, and performs risk analysis using project management tools (e.g., work break-down structure, precedence network, resource allocation). Ensures project is completed within budget.
Utilizes advanced engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics) to develop optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) in the creation and validation of products.
Analyzes and designs value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in an accredited course of study in engineering.
Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering discipline
3+ years of experience analyzing data for trends
Experience working in a manufacturing/production environment
Experience with process improvement and lean manufacturing.
Experience with time standards development.
Experience with project management
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Education)
Industrial Engineering experience
Experience with process modeling and simulation.
Experience working with electronics
Certification in Six Sigma
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Typical Education/Experience:
Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
