Job Description

Overview:

  • Integration lead for the SLS Core Stage Feedline system.  

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the daily Boeing operations and interaction between engineering, propulsion, materials and processes, manufacturing, contracts, shipping, and the supplier to insure all technical requirements are met, specifically technical performance requirements related to structural integrity and functionality. 
  • NASA and government certification and qualification of new designs for launch vehicle systems, including propulsion delivery systems. 
  • Supplier compliance and deliverables. 
  • Structural requirements for strength, fracture and stability. 
  • Propulsion and flight engineering requirements for propellant and oxidizer delivery systems. 
  • Testing to include structural, fatigue, cryogenic and thermal, deflection and stiffness, modal and dynamic testing, vibration and shaker tests. 
  • Launch vehicle environments and analysis. 
  • Structural design and design engineering standards typical of the aerospace industry, familiar with drawing release systems and product data management systems. 
  • Verification and compliance. 
  • Design critical review requirements and deliverables. 
  • Customer interaction and venues.  
  • Acceptance reviews, hardware acceptance and government requirements. 
  • Configuration management for design definition to aerospace standards.   
  • Non-conformance management systems, material review boards and configuration audits. 
  • Flight readiness reviews and flight worthiness certification.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Requirements):

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • Technical engineering degree and 14 years experience in the aerospace industry (Mechanical or Aerospace degree preferred).
  • Experience with launch vehicle systems.
  • Experience with NASA funded projects and requirements.
  • Experience with new design development and qualification.
  • Requires travel domestic and international.  

Typical Education / Experience:
Level 5:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
