Boeing is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - Mission Assurance (Level 5) to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama. This role is for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program with responsibilities to include Program Mission Assurance, Safety Review Boards, Interceptor Engineering Review Board and Joint Engineering Review Board, mission assurance audits, preventive and corrective action, and product delivery and flight test readiness.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads and ensures mission assurance objectives are met through a collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify the complex life-cycle of the GMD program
Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate mission assurance requirements
Support development and review of GMD products for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, verification, and other specialties to ensure mission success
Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of processes, tools, risks, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes
Engages, tracks and drives resolution of cross-functional technical issues
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
10+ years of experience in development, hardware & software qualifications, and/or hardware & software delivery
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Cross-discipline engineering experience
Space or Launch Vehicle experience
Experience and understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) or Military Defense Agency (MDA) customer and contracts
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
