Job Description


  • The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Space Vehicle Systems Engineer to support our Missile and Weapon Systems programs in Huntsville, AL.  The Missiles and Weapons Systems organization is a dynamic and growing with a leadership team focused on attracting and developing top talent in support of critical missions for National Defense and Strategic Deterrence.   • As a Satellite Systems Engineer, you will design and develop state-of-the-art satellite systems for space-based applications for commercial, civil and/or national security programs. You will be part of a highly-motivated team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed requirements for the spacecraft, flowing those requirements to subsystems and units
  • Manage the maturation of the design via design reviews
  • Manage the integration of the spacecraft via unit and subsystem selloff and installation
  • Test the spacecraft and performing analysis to demonstrate to the customer that all requirements have been met
  • Develop the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes
  • Resolve cross-functional technical issues and manage change control

Additional Information:

  • The individual should be goal-oriented and have a strong work ethic.
  • Working knowledge of computing, programming and/or network environments is critical for this role.
  • The ability to manage work in a team and multi-tasking environment is essential.
  • Work is may be performed in a multi-company team environment with customer participation.
  • Knowledge and exposure to system development and analyses systems and tools is required.
  • The ability to develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems, requiring ingenuity and innovation is necessary.
  • System or sub-system test experience is a plus.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • Satellite architecture, design and verification experience
  • Experience leading systems engineering teams for satellite programs 
  • Demonstrated proficiency through the entire lifecycle of the systems engineering “V"
  • 3+ years’ experience with MATLAB

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) skills
  • Electrical or Aerospace engineering skills
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems
  • Lead projects, develop innovative designs, lead trade studies, and drive issues to closure
  • Work with customers, program office, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal)

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
