The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced or Senior Software Engineer to join the Satellite Mission Software team located in Kent, WA.
This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience developing complex traditional and machine learning algorithms. You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of software engineers, data scientists, and technology experts to build and deploy cutting edge mission support software for government space missions.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
- Develop mission support algorithms and model pipelines to support customer mission needs
- Improve performance of existing software capabilities and optimize for available cloud resources
- Implement rigorous software testing and validation campaigns
- Build strong mission intuition and guide model design and implementation
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 or more years of software development experience including Python
- Experience developing complex algorithms, including application of machine learning methods
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Development experience with Python machine learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, etc.)
- Experience applying GPU-accelerated processing (e.g. CUDA)
- Computer vision using deep learning algorithms (e.g. GluonCV)
- Experience tailoring software development to aerospace or similarly complex mission spaces
- Experience with AWS, Elastic MapReduce (EMR), EC2, S3, Sagemaker
- Excellent communication, software readability, and documentation practices
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams alongside other engineers and scientists
- Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, JIRA, Confluence, Artifactory, etc
Typical Education/Experience Level 3, Experienced
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
