Job Description

Boeing Defense, Space & Security is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible entry level software engineer to support the development of engineering and operational systems at the Starfire Optical Range (SOR), a ground telescope site on Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB), New Mexico.

 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop, document and maintain requirements, algorithms, interfaces, designs, and code for embedded software systems.
  • Develop software code in accordance with development standards.
  • Develop software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Integrate and compile software components into builds and test in the target environment.

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience programming in C/C++ or some other high order language
  • Familiar with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components.
  • Ability to learn new programming languages, technologies and software
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment
 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related engineering field
  • Broad knowledge of host environments, including processors, operating systems and networks.
  • Experience with high order and assembly level languages
  • Experience developing GUI applications or components
  • Ability to integrate separate software components into a single system.
  • Experience with source code control and bug tracking systems (e.g. Perforce, SVN, TRAC).
  • Ability to write test procedures and document test results to ensure software system requirements are met
 

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
