Job Description

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is looking for a Mid-Level Systems Engineer (Level 3) with proven experience in sub-system and system level integration, verification and validation of hardware and software platforms. This position will support the development of engineering and operational systems at the Starfire Optical Range (SOR) ground telescope site on Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB), New Mexico.

These unique roles require an understanding of engineering processes and the ability to communicate engineering requirements to internal and external customers. The individual must be enthusiastic and hands on in his/her approach and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Performs stakeholder needs analysis, technical measure definition, and requirements analysis, allocation and definition.
  • Uses the structured requirements process to ensure requirements are clear, unambiguous verifiable and affordable.
  • Works closely with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment to develop system and subsystem specifications and statements of work for a variety of complex systems.
  • Assists with various analyses to optimize total system and subsystem architecture.
  • Assists with analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, and system security to ensure mission success.
  • Assists with the development of test plans and technical documentation.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Basic (Required) Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering classification is required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with Systems Engineering principles.
  • Experience applying systems engineering principles during the development of complex hardware/software solutions
  • Demonstrated practical experience in system integration, validation, and/or verification
  • Experience in MS Office Products and strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Applicants must be willing to work non-standard rotating work schedules, including nights.
Preferred (Desired) Skills
Typical Education / Experience

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
