The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Facilities Machinist to support the Starfire Optical Range located in Kirtland AFB, NM.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Associate, Experienced and Senior Facilities Machinist.

Position Responsibilities:

• Performs machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks

• Applies coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements

• Works on complex components and systems using established drawings and requirements

• Follows general instructions, reads and interprets complex blueprint drawings and specifications to set-up and machine items to fabricate out of sequence emergent production parts as required using manual and CNC machines

• Develops and revises Machine Control Data (MCD) and geometry

• Assists the team in resolving issues and completing job responsibilities

• Assists night testing operations in various capabilities

• Operates equipment to include but not limited to boom lift, forklift, scissor lift, etc.

• Operates machining equipment to include but not limited to drill press, lathe, mill etc.

• Operates hand tools

• Works outside and inside, which may include inclement weather

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Experience operating material handling equipment

• Experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, electrical schematics, and reading and interpreting blueprints or drawings

• 3+ years’ experience setting up and operating Conventional Lathes, Mills, Surface Grinders and Radial Arm Drills

• 1+ years’ experience setting up and operating Manual and CNC machines

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Ability to work nights, weekends, or overtime as required

• Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights with or without equipment assistance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience operating material handling equipment

• Associate Degree in machining or a related field

• An active clearance Secret or above is preferred

• Journeyman welder certification is a plus

Typical Education & Experience:

Associate (Level B)

High school diploma or GED and typically 1 or more years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experienced (Level C)

High school diploma or GED and typically 4 or more years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Senior (Level D)

High school diploma or GED and typically 7 or more years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel:

This position may require up to 10% travel.
