The Boeing Company is looking for a Mid-Level Software Quality Engineer to join or team in Layton, Utah.  Come join our Boeing Defense, Space & Security team as a software quality engineer!
 

In this role, you’ll be ensuring we deliver safe and compliant products to our customers. As a member of the team you will work with our commercial and military programs to assure the right processes for developing, controlling, and verifying software are followed – by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 20%

Position Responsibilities:

• Actively participates in program activities, from initial proposal and planning to verification/certification and delivery

• Verifies software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standards

• Identifies process or product non-compliances and supports root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect investigation/prevention activities

• Teams with equipment managers of supplier products to monitor and evaluate supplier software development performance

• Acts as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvement

• Supports the identification and analysis of program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

• 3+ years’ of experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)?

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Software quality assurance / software quality engineering experience

• Knowledge of AS9115 and DO-178 requirements

• Hands-on experience as a software developer or software test engineer 

• Involvement with products developed using Agile software development practices 

• Experience with DevSecOps and associated tools

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
